Personal Branding vs. Visual Identity: What’s the Difference?

Hey there! I just got my photos back from the personal branding photoshoot I had with @nangray_art_photography

It was a lot of fun, and she put me at ease so I feel like the pictures really show my personality.

So let’s chat about two buzzwords we hear a lot: personal branding and visual identity. They sound similar, right? But they’re like coffee and the cup - related, but definitely not the same thing. ☕️

Personal branding is your who you are, your public identity: the vibe you give off as a professional and how people perceive you. Think of it as your reputation, but with a fancy name. It’s what makes you unique, whether you’re the go-to problem-solver, the creative thinker, or the person who always knows the best pizza spots in town. It should be authentically you.

Visual identity is how you look. It’s the face your company shows to the world — your logo, color scheme, fonts, and all the visual elements of your brand. It’s the outfit your brand wears to make a good first impression.

Together, they create a full picture of you and your company, inside and out! So your audience gets to connect with your style and your substance 💕

I’m going to be using the photos Nan sent me to help you guys get to know the person behind the company.

What I do for my visual identity clients is to help them develop a strategy and design a system of graphics they can use online and in print to define their brand.
